StrathAIS
Innovation in Aerospace

StrathAIS is the largest aerospace society dedicated to the pursuit of aerospace innovation at the University of Strathclyde located in Glasgow, Scotland.

Since our establishment in 2019, StrathAIS has acted as a career booster for the students at the University of Strathclyde in any degree discipline. Our mission is to act as a platform for students to grow as engineers and leaders through participating in our large-scale extracurricular projects in rocketry, space systems, and aviation.

Our projects focus on hands-on, collaborative learning to provide our students with the essential skills to grow their abilities both professionally and personally. StrathAIS is the ideal platform to gain industry-like experience whilst still prioritising the university education. As the largest aerospace society at Strathclyde, we welcomed over 100 members in the previous academic year.

The Rocketry Team started in 2021. The team has entered IREC every year since 2022, competing in the 10K COTS category each time.

StrathAIS has seen a year-on-year increase in popularity with 95 members in the rocketry team this year. Following a nominal flight at IREC 2024, the team decided to step up to the 30K COTS category for the first time.

STRATHcube is an ambitious student-led initiative at the University of Strathclyde, contributing to Scotland’s growing presence in space technology.

This project revolves around launching a small satellite—known as a CubeSat—with a mission to improve Space Situational Awareness, which helps monitor and protect satellites from the growing risk of space debris.
